Introduction

To know that someone is our friend is to be sure of his joy in our successes and his heartbreak in our failures. To know our Creator is to be sure of His pleasure in our trust, His strength in our weakness, and His warning in our carelessness.

To know God through Isaiah’s prophetic book is to experience all of the above, and more. It is to discover that the Lord of heaven is our Friend, our Savior, and our King. To know God through Isaiah is to learn that the One who loves us more than we can imagine lives not only in the heights of the heavens but also with those who are of a broken and contrite heart (Isa. 57:15). It is of this God that RBC Senior Research Editor Herb Vander Lugt writes about in the following pages, encouraging us to worship Him in truth.
